Song of Moment (aka I Had This On Repeat All Day)
Candyman

Christina Aguilera is one of the few mass-produced pop princesses who can actually sing well enough to deserve the position, IMO. So givver some love. And definitely give some love to whoever decided on that big-band swing motif for her, cause damn.

Hell, let's put Ain't No Other Man up here too, cause why not. :D

Let us not forget that when the two were just starting out, Britney Spears was seen as the big sensation and Christina Aguilera was sort of the second banana. And Britney had her big moments with the sexy outfits and that dance with the snake... while Christina had that weird dirty period with lots of nose piercings and no showers.

Well, I was ready to write them off as two sides of the same useless coin until Christina's "Beautiful" came out and I began to recognize that, holy cripes, the girl had pipes.

Fast forward to today and Britney is a massive train wreck of a subpar human life who flashes her putrid, repulsive genitals five years too late, whilst Christina Aguilera has gone upscale and classy with a 1940s-movie-star thing goin' on... oh yeah, and she can sing.

This does not address your specific point in any salient or interesting manner, I just like dumping on Britney and celebrating those who take the higher road (eventually). [info]gregoryharbin will vouch that this whole issue is one of my favorite subjects.

I think we've all learned a valuable lesson here and will resolve not to marry people like Kevin Federline.

I actually remember first hearing her sing on the Mulan soundtrack with the pop version of "Reflection". My Mom called it before anyone else did: "Who is that? She has a great voice." And we were all like, "Christina Aguilera? Who the heck is that?"

The rest, as they say... :D
