Moving closer to the sun
SQUEE! I just finished having a 10-minute conversation with Roomie!Em through Skype! She is all the way over in Germany, where it's already a quarter to 7, which means she was getting ready to go to her New Year's party, but we had a nice little catch-up/OMGSQUEE conversation before she had to rush off.
This combined with the fact that Jessie will be back here in a few weeks, and and and and and and YAY!!!!! *bounce*
For all the woes our modern world has to offer, it's things like this that make it seem worthwhile. Instant communication with the friend who's an ocean away, the ability to send messages so quickly that you know in advance when someone will be coming back close to you. I am full of squee and warmth.
Happy New Year, everyone :)
January: My Astronomy teacher is Professor Taam, pronounced "Tom," which does not stop me from giggling internally whenever I think about it.
February: REC! Why You Should Watch Battlestar Galactica: An essay in picspam form by
ack_attack
March: And until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
April: I didn't want to post this yesterday, lest anyone think I was April foolin': I've been accepted to BADA!!!!!
May: Celebrated Beltane with an attempt to thin the veil even further.
June: So I had 1 gin & tonic and 1 bailey's on the rocks, and I was eating at the same time: is there any logical reason I should be this tipsy?
July: So remember how I said there'd be no internet access at BADA?
August: Wizard Celebrity Dossier number: 707 You're rather famous in the wizarding world, so of course there's a Death Eater file on you.
September: My computer feels foreign to me.
October: I has an idea for this year's Nano!
November: I have a main character, and the set-up for a plot.
December: I've been writing my final Linguistics paper for the last two hours, and I'm about 3/4 of the way done.... I think I can save the rest for tomorrow.
2007 SUMMARY
1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before? As per usual, not chronological, but in the order I think of them: Bought a guitar and started learning how to play it. Rented a car and went on a road trip. Attended Burning Man. Lived in the same apartment with males who weren't related to me. Played a man onstage. Sat in the same room with Alan Rickman and Jeremy Irons. Danced onstage with Jonathan Coulton. Got sick from too much drinkin' (NEVER AGAIN PLEASE). Went punting. Used Skype ;)
2. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I failed to reach 50 books...again. Maybe third time is the charm. Aside from that, any resolutions I made would be in connection to things I'm already trying to do, like advance my acting career.

And I'll see the chances that I took

Cause I want the world to know my name
And that's all I need from you now, each day
Cause I tell all my secrets to my guitar...
