Text quoted from the AFA website:

"Procter & Gamble has resumed using explicit, open-mouth homosexual kissing in their soap opera, "As the World Turns." P&G decided to include this type of content as a commitment to "diversity." P&G stopped showing such scenes some months ago, but has now decided to again help promote the homosexual agenda which includes homosexual marriage.

Gay activists are hopeful that the P&G effort will desensitize viewers to the homosexual lifestyle and help make the unhealthy and immoral lifestyle more acceptable to society, especially to children and youth.

View a scene [link removed] from the April 23, 2008 episode by P&G. WARNING – content is repulsive! (Actually, this is the scene they link to. Such repulsive affection!)

"As the World Turns" is owned and controlled completely by P&G. No network made this decision. P&G alone made the decision to support the homosexual agenda."

P&G is conducting a phone poll to see if people are for or against the Luke/Noah storyline on As The World Turns. Even if you don't watch the show, please a moment to thwart homophobic bigotry. The poll is completely automated. You don't have to talk to anyone. And it takes all of a second to register your opinion.

Call 1-800-331-3774. Follow the automated menu to the poll on the Luke/Noah storyline, and please vote to support it.

Jacobs

First of the all, The Year of Living Biblically is a book I recommend highly. It's non-fiction, the diary of a Jewish-born, agnostic New Yorker who spent a year trying to live his life while taking the Bible as literally as he could.

SIDE NOTE: He also has another book, The Know-It All, which chronicles his reading the entire Encylopedia Britannica. Haven't read that one yet.

Anyway, reading it caused me to think a lot about my own spiritual health. I've spent the however-many years (5? 6?) since I started building a spiritual life for myself being very inward-focused. Who am I, what's my purpose here, etc. Those are all good questions to ask, and I feel like I've been finding at least part of the answers, but recently it's had me feeling (whadda-ya-know) very self-centered. I need to start reaching outward- recognizing more of the mysticism and spirit of the world and people around me, not just myself.

I think I can start by being more thankful. There's a passage in The Year of Biblical Living where Jacobs describes the thanksgiving prayers he gives before every meal, and it resonated as something I could try. Maybe not necessarily thanking God for the food, but thanking the animals that gave their lives, the plants which grew their fruits, the farmers who raised them.

The first thing I went to eat after thinking about this last night was a Fruit Roll-Up, and I wondered whether I'd be thanking a bunch of chemists for that, so I looked at the side of the box. The first ingredient listed is pear, and sugar cane is on there too. I imagined a pear tree and sugar plants, and thanked them just before I took the first bite. It was delicious.

A good night surrounded by friends and laughter soon perks you back up.

You are trusting and truthful, and you aren't good at hiding your emotions from friends or strangers alike. People need to take you as you are - and often they do. You are confident but not overconfident, sensitive but not touchy. You aren't afraid to give your opinion, or to let someone know when they have offended you, but you don't constantly fly off the handle. You simply want to make your thoughts and feelings known, and you are just as open to hearing others' points of view. Sometimes your friends feel slighted by you, because they aren't as open about their feelings as you are, and so you don't always notice when they are feeling hurt or down.

Your daemon's form would represent your social and emotionally honest nature, as well as your balanced sense of self. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before? As per usual, not chronological, but in the order I think of them: Bought a guitar and started learning how to play it. Rented a car and went on a road trip. Attended Burning Man. Lived in the same apartment with males who weren't related to me. Played a man onstage. Sat in the same room with Alan Rickman and Jeremy Irons. Danced onstage with Jonathan Coulton. Got sick from too much drinkin' (NEVER AGAIN PLEASE). Went punting. Used Skype ;)

2. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I failed to reach 50 books...again. Maybe third time is the charm. Aside from that, any resolutions I made would be in connection to things I'm already trying to do, like advance my acting career.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? My brother's best childhood friend's sister is pregnant. That's as close as we got this year.

4. Did anyone close to you die? No, luckily.

5. What countries did you visit? Jolly Olde England.

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007? A paying job.

7. What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory? September 28th.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Going to Burning Man! I bought the tix in January; many months of planning and not knowing if we'd have to up and sell the tickets later, John and I went.

9. What was your biggest failure? Not completing NaNoWriMo?

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Nothing serious.

11. What was the best thing you bought? Tickets to Burning Man.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration? Katy, the director of Travesties.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed? .....

14. Where did most of your money go? Burning Man.

15. I just don't. have. the time. Or energy.

Oh well. There's always quiveringmember if I need a quick fix. Plus I've been working on that Christmas story for rosesfade. Hmmm...

And at least I actually left this game with, like, a post. Instead of gradually fading away and disappearing like I usually do.

I still feel like crap, though. *headdesk* There were plot-lines to be had, dammit!
