Cat Macro Quiz & Books )

So on Monday, they sprung the surprise news on us that the one and only Alan Rickman would be paying us a visit for a Q&A session the next day. And lo, July 17th shall henceforth be known as Alan Rickman Day.

Anyway, out of all the things he said, aside from all the stuff about actual, y'know, acting, one quote keeps coming back to mind:

'We'll all find out on Friday or Saturday what the hell I'm up to.'

Oh yes, Mr Rickman. Yes we will.

Going out tonight with my Hufflepuff tie and scarf to Waterstone's where I've reserved my copy. Cornmarket Street is going to be a MADHOUSE because there are at least 4 bookshops within a block of each other, and they're ALL having midnight release parties. So we are gonna party like the Twins.

A final word, and I have not been privvy to any spoilers whatever, so this is pure speculation: If it so happens that Harry has to die in order to save everything, so be it. But. If JK Rowling kills any of the Weasleys- especially Ron, Fred or George- I am going to fucking burn... not the book. But something.

50 BOOKS 2007
14))
The Golden Compass, Philip Pullman
15)) Present Laughter, Noel Coward
16)) Sanctuary, Tanika Gupta

Oh, plays. You might just be my saving grace.

Aaaaaaaaaaandayup, I finally got around to reading Golden Compass (I think the first person to go "omgz you must read this book" to me was, er..... 10 years ago? o_O). And I must say: damn. I knew it had a powerful religous theme going into it, but still: day-yum. That shit is painful. Ow.

Also, Lee Scoresby is WHEEE. And Sam Elliott is thanking his lucky stars for that role; it's practically written for him.

I must say I did a double-take when within, oh, the first sentence? the book mentioned Oxford. Musta been fate that I waited this long. ;)

Since I'm leaving for Oxford tomorrow, Everything's Eventual will have to go back to the library, so I skipped ahead and read the story of 1408. At 2 AM. And it is way, way scarier than the movie. And I read it at 2 AM.

"A life rule if you're going to read those things: during the day, near a bunny." -Dad

That may be the best advice I've gotten so far this year.

And yes, I leave for Oxford, and BADA, tomorrow. There's no internet access in the dorms. :/ There are interweb cafes around town, but time will be limited. And so I say to you, as usual: see ya on the flip-side!

Follow-up Questions: Spoilers for various things within )

Jack Sparrow's (mostly) loyal first mate, you spend most of your time fishing your captain out of trouble-- or fishing yourself out of whatever trouble your captain's gotten you into this time. The proverbial old salt, you've seen and heard just about everything there is during your time at sea, and you always have a story or two up your sleeve, especially when the films require some helpful expository dialogue.

When life gets you down, repeat the following:

My life does not suck.
My life does NOT suck.
Things could be so, so, so much worse than they are. Therefore I am thankful for what I have.

(makes me feel better, anyway)

Also, as of today I have a ticket to see "Lord of the Rings" at the Theatre Royal this July. I'm sitting in the sixth row, OMG. Jubilation!

Um. Hey.

Look what's going to be playing CLOSE ENOUGH FOR ME TO TAKE A BUS this summer.

(yes, I'd heard of it before, I'd just only now been reminded of its existence and subsequent opening)
(yes, I know it got mixed reviews in Canada. I DON'T F'IN CARE.)

I've been staring at the computer screen for the last five minutes, unable to say anything except "Oh my GOD" and "Holy SHIT."

I didn't want to post this yesterday, lest anyone think I was April foolin': I've been accepted to BADA!!!!! I will totally be hanging out in Oxford learning theatre for an entire month! Possibly from Fiona Shaw or someone like that!!

*jumps around squeeing, except not really since she's writing this from the library*

I also know at least one other person who is going. He is Zev. He is a crazy and all wonderfully snarky-man-type. Hehe!

One reason this is a milestone for me is it's the first theatre study program I've gotten in that I actually had to audition for, as opposed to just sending in an application and/or resume (and yeah, this includes Northwestern). And they audition all over the world, too. Because they are freakin' Oxford. Mwehehehe.

This also means that I will be in England when the last Harry Potter book comes out. Which means I need to find another reason/time to meet all the RttF-people in person. Ohwellz :\

In other news, I feel like a total hipster today. Rocket Dog shoes, brand new jeans, stripy button-down shirt (tucked in), brown blazer, and big ol' sunglasses. I need a jazz/funk band to follow me around on days like this.

And Happy Birthday-Month to meeeeee! (Days until legality: 26 and countin')
